DeltaSpot
A spooling process tape ensures maximum reproducibility and process reliability for aluminium and steel joints.
With DeltaSpot, Fronius has developed an innovative resistance spot welding process for aluminium, steel and other materials. The key feature is the tape that runs between the electrodes and the sheets being joined. This continuous movement leads to an uninterrupted welding process producing consistently high quality, meaning you achieve precise and reproducible results. The process tape transfers the welding current while protecting the contact surfaces of the electrodes from contamination by aluminium, zinc or organic residues. This protection results in a significantly increased service life for the electrodes: up to 20,000 spots are possible depending on the application. What’s more, every welding spot is 100% reproducible, giving you a high level of process reliability when welding. The indirect sheet contact produces a largely spatter-free welding result on the surface of the sheet.
Owing to the high electrical resistance of the process tape, during welding additional thermal energy is transferred from the outside to the inside. This means that for aluminium applications in particular up to 50% less electrical energy is required. DeltaSpot therefore boasts an extremely high level of efficiency compared to conventional spot welding.
In addition to aluminium joints, the advantages of the DeltaSpot process can also be put to work on sheet-steel joints such as those involving visually exposed spots or coated high-strength sheets. Multi-sheet joints can also be welded with ease. In order to weld different material combinations with the same spot welding gun, you can simply change the process tape. The system components – power source, hosepack, spot welding gun and control with graphical user interface – are fully synchronised. What’s more, the high rigidity of the spot welding gun has a strong influence on the welding quality, especially when welding aluminium.
A spooling process tape ensures maximum reproducibility and process reliability for aluminium and steel joints.
