» The name Fronius is synonymous with quality—which is a crucial asset in the world of welding. When it comes to quality assurance, our main focus is on welding technology, as this has a significant effect on the life cycle of our products. «
Günther Huemer, Managing Director of Guntamatic
The welding of the boilers and their long seams is mostly automated. However, due to the limited accessibility of the components, the entire interior of the boiler can only be welded by hand. To do this, black-and-white joints are constructed as standard. The boilers also have difficult corner connections that the welders continuously have to rework by hand.
The work involves sheet metal with widely varying degrees of thickness, which means the welders tend to switch between transition and spray arcs, thus making the task inherently difficult. In the past, this has resulted in a high degree of reworking at Guntamatic.
In the field of manual welding, Guntamatic has been relying on welding systems from Fronius right from the start. With the market launch of the TransSteel Pulse in 2020, however, the company decided to undergo extensive modernization: “With the help of the pulse welding function, we are able to generate a significant increase in process stability and thus a considerable reduction in welding spatter,” confirms Roland Fellinger, master locksmith and welding supervisor at Guntamatic.
Over the course of its modernization, the metal construction company has integrated numerous TransSteel 4000 Pulse welding system into its production operations. “This has made our manual welding operations much cleaner and we have managed to significantly reduce the amount of rework needed. Another major concern for us was for the equipment to be easy to use,” continues Fellinger, “and Fronius was able to provide that with the TransSteel 4000 Pulse.”
At Guntamatic, it seems that the smooth production process is dependent on the quality of the sales and service from its suppliers – which Managing Director Günther Huemer confirms: “With regard to our productivity, this aspect is also extremely important for us. Working with Fronius guarantees us quick decisions and short communication channels.”
